On October 3rd, 2023, we had the privilege of attending the Pocono Prayer Breakfast, an annual gathering that beautifully exemplifies the power of unity and prayer. It was a serene morning filled with the harmonious energy of people from diverse backgrounds coming together in the spirit of love, compassion, and mindfulness.  

 

        The Prayer Hall at Jinyin Temple hangs a colossal painting created by our spiritual mentor, the Vajra Master Jinke Xuanlei — Globe of Peace, Union of Humanity. The concept of a "globe of peace" and the "union of humanity" is a beautiful extension of the experience we shared at the Pocono Prayer Breakfast. It represents the idea of a global community united by the common values of love, compassion, and mindfulness, transcending cultural and religious boundaries. In a "globe of peace," people from diverse backgrounds come together to promote harmony and understanding among all individuals, regardless of their faith or beliefs. This concept emphasizes the importance of interfaith dialogue and finding common ground in our shared pursuit of peace, kindness, and understanding. It encourages individuals to carry the message of love and unity forward in their daily lives, fostering connections, cultivating compassion, and working towards a world where all beings can find inner peace. The concept in the Vajra Master’s painting envisions a world where people come together in a spirit of unity, transcending differences to create a more harmonious and compassionate global community.  

 

        In Buddhism, we embrace the idea that all paths lead to the same truth, and the Pocono Prayer Breakfast reinforced that belief. We were reminded of the importance of interfaith dialogue and the shared values that connect us all - the pursuit of peace, kindness, and understanding.  

 

        May the positive vibrations of this gathering continue to resonate in our hearts as we carry the message of love and unity forward in our daily lives. Let us be inspired to foster connections, cultivate compassion, and work towards a world where all beings find inner peace.
